Men's Softball European Super Cup 2023: day two recap
The second day of the Men’s Softball European Super Cup 2023 witnessed matchups across different fields - Haarlem, Amstelveen, and Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands.
Group A: Montpellier Barracudas (FRA) showcased their strength by defeating Meteors (GBR) 11-3 in five innings. Czechia U23 exhibited their skills with an 8-1 win against Vennep Flyers (NED). Stenløse Bulls (DEN) displayed determination, coming from behind to win 4-2 against Montpellier Barracudas (FRA) by scoring in the sixth and seventh innings. The Junior Czech national squad secured an 8-1 victory over Meteors (GBR). The day concluded with a high-scoring match, where Stenløse Bulls (DEN) triumphed 18-7 against Vennep Flyers (NED), with three homers by SIMONSEN, Munk, and SBÆK, Andreas.
In Group A, Czechia U23 (CZE) leads with two wins.
Group B: Hurricans (DEN) displayed their prowess by defeating the Hoboken Pioneers (BEL) 3-0, with MALY Marek's no-hitter performance including 17 strikeouts. Magos Tenerife (ESP) clinched their first tournament victory by defeating Spectrum Praha (CZE) with a score of 4-0. The Hurricans (DEN) continued their dominance with a 9-0 win against DVH Amstelveen (NED). Hoboken Pioneers (BEL) secured a convincing 7-0 victory against Spectrum Praha (CZE). Magos Tenerife (ESP) maintained their momentum by winning a balanced game 3-1 against DVH Amstelveen (NED) with a remarkable total of 31 strikeouts.
The Hurricans (DEN) currently lead Group B with two wins.
Group C: In an impressive display, VSC Sweden (SWE) defeated Span (CRO) 9-2 in six innings at Olympia. MOANA Hibbert pitched a masterful game, denying any hits to the Croatians. Locos Breclav (CZE) continued their dominance by beating Span (CRO) 10-0 in just four innings, achieving a mercy rule victory. Stags (GBR) secured an 8-2 win against VSC Sweden (SWE). Locos Breclav (CZE) emerged victorious in a closely-fought game against Chicaboo's (BEL) with a final score of 2-0, powered by a crucial fifth-inning homer by Martin TUREK.
Group C is currently led by Locos Breclav (CZE) with two wins in as many games.
Group D: Les Rabbits (FRA) showcased exceptional pitching as GUEDEZ HIDALGO Victor led them to a 7-0 victory against MRKI Medvedi (CRO), maintaining a no-hit streak and striking out an impressive 19 batters in 7 innings. Painbusters Most (CZE) overwhelmed MRKI Medvedi (CRO) with a powerful performance, securing a 13-1 win. Deurne Spartans (BEL) faced off against Les Rabbits (FRA) in a marathon game that required nine innings to determine a winner. Ultimately, the French team triumphed 5-4, thanks to a walkout by MAURETTE Grégoire.
