Women's Softball European Cup Winners Cup B: day five recap

Early in the morning, the village of Moergestel had to deal with serious rain showers. The main field looked like a giant pool afterwards which caused a revision of the schedule. 3 games were moved to the second field so that the field crew could work on getting the main field playable again.

Titans (BOT) – Barbarians (GBR)
At 13:00 the first pitch was thrown on the second field. Titans (TBS) claimed an easy 9-1 victory over the Barbarians (BFB) in 5 innings. For Titans (TBS) Boitumelo Moilwa, Tlotlo Maluzo, and Onkokame Thlakoyakgomo all went 2 for 3 in the game. Dorcas Mokgweetsi (TBS) pitched 4 innings racking up 7 strikeouts bringing her total to 34 strikeouts in the tournament.

Thunderbirds (ISR) – Medvednica Mrki Medvedi (CRO)
Thunderbirds (ISR) had two games on the schedule today. They started their day with a 6-4 victory over Medvenica (MED). Maud Talma (win) and Adrianna Berger (save) took the pitching honors for the Thunderbirds. Robielly Martis did most of the damage on offense for the Thunderbirds. She went 3 for 4 and scored 2 runs.

Crazy Chicklets - Challengers Zurich
The Crazy Chicklets claimed their spot in the final by beating the Challengers 6-1.

An early 4-run lead was enough to be comfortable: Louise Mc Garry and Kailyn Campbell scored on a single from Mara Beckendorff. Lily Aasland and Mara Beckendorff scored on a single by Verena Ponweiser. Later in the game a couple extra runs were added by the Austrian team. McKenna Leamon (CCW) went the distance for her fourth win of the week.

Roef! - Thunderbirds
At 18:30 Thunderbirds (ISR) and Roef! (NED) were able to start their evening game on the main field. Both teams and the attending fans applauded the field crew for the amazing work put in all day in preparation of the field. The game ended in an 18-1 victory for Roef!

Jessica Goldyn, Nicky Uytendaal, and Briana Marcelino all scored 3 runs in the game.

Rain showers arrived just after the umpire called “ballgame”. Hopefully, the field crew can get both fields ready for the final day tomorrow.
