France and Türkiye shine at the WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup 2023

Cuba clinched the gold medal with an impressive 6-3, 2-1 win over France in the final of the WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup in Ankara, Türkiye.

France made history by securing their first-ever WBSC World Cup medal. Despite only two losses throughout the competition, both to the eventual champions, Cuba, France showcased exceptional skill and won the silver medal.

Türkiye, the host nation, battled for bronze against Mexico. Türkiye claimed the first game in extra innings, but Mexico fought back, ultimately securing a thrilling victory with a 2-3, 7-1, 4-2 scoreline.

Individual excellence was recognized in the All-World Team, featuring Ambre Brouard of France, Mert Tekeci of Türkiye, Luis Fernando Bencomo (Mexico), Josue Gutierrez (Cuba), and Xiaoyu Liu (China).

The spotlight is on the upcoming WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup in 2025. This event will serve as a qualifier for the Youth Olympic Games in 2026.

The senior national team of France will participate in the Baseball5 European Championship 2023, set to take place in in Lithuania from November 7th to 11th.
