The European Big League Tour, an initiative by Rick van den Hurk to bring Major League players to Europe, will come to Rotterdam and London in 2012. The big leaguers will hold youth clinics in the Netherlands on Saturday and Sunday, November 10 and 11.

Jupiter, Florida. Spain has won the World Baseball Classic Qualifier in Jupiter, Florida. They stunned the favored team from Israel by a score of 9-7 on Sunday evening at Roger Dean Stadium. An attendance of 4,463 people saw Spain deciding the outcome with Yunesky Sanchez’ two-out, two-run single in the top of the tenth inning. With the win, Spain has clinched a ticket to the 2013 World Baseball Classic, which will be held next March.

In the seventh a homerun by Tyson Gillies broke a 4-4 tie and two five-run rallies turned the score into a blowout.

In front of 1,452 people in attendance at the Armin-Wolf-Arena on Sunday afternoon, Greg Frady’s squad crushed Great Britain 16-1 in seven innings to reach a final berth against Canada on Monday evening. The British team is eliminated, suffering its second loss.

Regensburg, Germany. Great Britain remains in the hunt for the tournament win at the World Baseball Classic Qualifier in Regensburg, Germany. The British team defeated the Czech Republic 12-5 on Saturday afternoon and earned at least one more game on Sunday against the loser of the evening matchup between Germany and Canada. The Czech team is eliminated from the WBC Qualifier after suffering their second loss.

Regensburg, Germany. The German national team beat the Czech Republic 16-1 in their first game at the World Baseball Classic Qualifier in Regensburg on Friday evening. Three runs in the first, eight in the fifth and five in the sixth turned the score into a lopsided result. Third baseman Matt Weaver had the big plays on defense and at the plate to lead the German team. Local hero Mike Bolsenbroek pitched 5 1/3 strong innings for the win.
