The Mix (GBR) Claims Gold at Women's Softball European Cup in Zagreb

In the last day of the Women's Softball European Cup held in Zagreb, Croatia, The Mix (GBR) clinched the gold medal. The host team, Princ Zagreb (CRO), secured the silver medal, while the Warsaw Diamonds (POL) earned the bronze medal.

The gold medal game of the Women's Softball European Cup pitted Princ Zagreb against The Mix. The game remained evenly matched with no runs scored until the fourth inning when Princ Zagreb took the lead. GUNIŠOVÁ, who reached base with a single, crossed home plate courtesy of a hit by LACKNER-KEIL, giving Princ Zagreb a 1-0 advantage.

The tide turned in the bottom of the fifth inning as REED-THOMAS kick-started the inning with a single, followed by a walk by WIGINGTON. A triple by SNOW drove both REED-THOMAS and WIGINGTON home, propelling the British team ahead with a 2-1 lead — a lead they maintained until the end of the game.

By clinching the gold medal, The Mix earned a spot in the Women's Softball European Premier Cup for Great Britain. The promotion marks a significant achievement for the Federation: last time a British team played in the Women's Softball European Premier Cup it was 1996.

Earlier in the day, the bronze medal match unfolded between Angels Dupnitsa (BUL) and Warsaw Diamonds (POL). Warsaw Diamonds secured a 4-2 victory in the contest. The Polish team swiftly took the lead with two runs in the first inning, building on this lead with an additional run in the third inning.

Angels Dupnitsa managed to score a run due to an error, narrowing the gap to 3-1, and further closed in during the sixth inning when YORDANOVA's double paved the way for MARCOVA to cross home plate.

Nevertheless, the Warsaw Diamonds responded promptly, as BREWER's walk set the stage for CZARNECKI's double, resulting in the Polish team's fourth run and sealing their bronze medal triumph.
