Youth Baseball5 European Championship 2024 awarded to Clermont-Ferrand, France

The WBSC Europe Board has accepted the bid submitted by the French Baseball and Softball Federation to host the Youth Baseball5 European Championship in 2024.

The Youth Baseball5 European Championship 2024 is set to take place in the city of Clermont-Ferrand, France.

The Clermont Auvergne Métropole-Artenium sport complex has been chosen as the venue for the championship, boasting three state-of-the-art fields and over 500 seats to accommodate the spectators. This facility is poised to provide an ideal backdrop for the competition that will unfold at the end of 2024.

Thierry Raphet, the President of the French Baseball and Softball Federation, expressed his enthusiasm for hosting this event, stating, "Our Federation, proud to be currently ranked number 1 in the international Baseball5 standings, is delighted to welcome, with the support of the Arvernes club and its territorial partners, all the European nations that will participate. I have great hopes for the international and perhaps, in the future, Olympic future of this discipline. I wish good luck to all the teams."

France has distinguished itself as a stalwart supporter of baseball5 development in Europe. Currently leading the WBSC World Ranking with an impressive 3037 points, France stands as the first European program to ascend to the summit of the WBSC World Rankings in Baseball, Softball, or Baseball5. This achievement underscores the European nation's commitment to advancing the sport.

The Youth Baseball5 European Championship 2024 in Clermont-Ferrand holds a dual significance. Not only teams will play for the title of European Champions, but it will also serve as a crucial qualifier for the WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup in 2025. The stakes are high, as success in the second World Cup will secure coveted tickets for the Youth Olympic Games in 2026.
