A youth baseball tournament was held in Chernivtsi, Ukraine. Teams from Kyiv, Odessa, and Chernivtsi took part in the competition from September 30 to October 2.
The Chairman of the Baseball and Softball Federation of Chernivtsi Region, Rostyslav Нrichnuk, commented: "in a time when there is a war in Ukraine, the organizers of the tournament were able to somehow distract the children from this horror by organizing a tournament in a place that was relatively safe. The children were happy to have the opportunity to play in their native country."
During the past summer, Ukraine took part in several WBSC Europe Championships, including the U-12 Baseball European Championship Qualifiers in Austria, where Coach Yevgenii Tkachenko was interviewed and opened up on the difficulties faced by the Ukrainian squad.
