Wesseling claimed the 2022 cup by defeating the Freising Grizzlies 9-3 in the championship game at the final four tournament in Hamburg. The Stuttgart Reds finished in third place while the Guggenberger Legionaere Regensburg ended in fourth. Wesseling had edged Stuttgart in the semi-finals, while Freising beat Bavarian rival Regensburg.
The German Softball Cup 2022 was played in two separate tournaments. In early September the teams ranked third and fourth in the standings in the Softball-Bundesliga met in Stuttgart to determine one qualifier for the final four.
Stuttgart prevailed in that tournament over the Hamburg Knights, Neunkirchen Nightmares and Tubingen Hawks. Automatically qualified for the final four were the losers of the semifinals, Freising and Regensburg, and the loser of the finals in the Softball-Bundesliga, Wesseling.
In August, the Wesseling Vermins took part in the Women's Softball European Premier Cup ranking sixth.
