The WBSC Umpire of the Year 2015 José Chaparro will be one of the speakers at the Softball Blue Convention 2023, hosted from March 10 to 12, 2023, in Barcelona, Spain.
Chaparro started umpiring in 2006 in Puerto Rico to get his international certification one year later when he umpired his first Women's Softball World Cup in Enschede, Netherlands. Chaparro won the title of WBSC Umpire of the Year in 2015.
In 2021, he umpired at the Women's Softball Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. He umpired the bronze medal game between Mexico and Canada as the first base umpire.
Chaparro confirmed his participation in the Softball Blue Convention 2023 where all the WBSC Europe Softball licensed Umpires are invited to join. WBSC Europe will cover the accommodation and full board of their licensed Umpires registering for the event.
The umpires will have to take care of (and cover) their own transportation to the event venue. The registration fee to attend the event will be 25 €.
Registration will be open until Friday, January 27, 2023.
