ESCA goodbye to Coach Obletter

One day went by since Coach Enrico Obletter passed away at the age of 61.

ESCA Camp Coordinator Craig Montvidas wrote a tribute to commemorate Coach Obletter.

To the European Softball community,

First and foremost my deepest sympathy for Enrico's wife Giovanna and family during this extremely emotional and saddening time. For people such as myself, coaching colleagues, Enrico's players and staff, plus his many friends and acquaintances, we all mourn this tragic loss together. I consider myself quite fortunate having had the opportunity to work together with Enrico at several camps, conferences, and clinics over the past two decades. I always enjoyed listening to his stories about the sport he loved so much. His passion for the sport of Softball was second to no one.

Etched in my mind will be the memory of Enrico jumping up and down after the Italian National Team qualified for the Olympic games. The goals and dreams he had chartered for his team all became reality. Putting into words what one feels, is always difficult, but I believe the message from Italian Federation President Andrea Marcon described everyone's feelings perfectly. Enrico will be greatly missed, but not forgotten! I know how proud he was of all of his players and staff for all they accomplished together. I'm certain his loss will make those who worked with him even stronger.

Rest in peace "big guy", rest in peace.

Sincere regards,

Craig Montvidas
