Day 5 Recap: Baseball European Cup 2024 in Valencia, Spain

The fifth day of the Baseball European Cup 2024 in Valencia featured three games, including two semifinals, determining the finalists and the teams competing for the bronze medal.

The day began with a relegation match where Vienna Metrostars (AUT) triumphed over Les Cougars Montigny (FRA) with a score of 14-3. Josh Topper led the Metrostars to victory. The Metrostars scored heavily in the first inning with seven runs and maintained their lead throughout the game.

In the first semifinal, the Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz (ESP) dominated Montpellier Barracudas (FRA) with a score of 17-1. Jose Diaz earned the win for the Marlins. The Marlins secured their victory with a strong second inning, scoring 3 runs, and a decisive third inning, scoring six more runs.

The second semifinal saw Olimpija Karlovac (CRO) defeating Astros Valencia (ESP) with a score of 11-6. Kruno Gojković was the winning pitcher for the Olimpija Karlovac. Olimpija Karlovac's strong fifth inning, scoring eight runs, was pivotal in their win.

Tomorrow, the Diving Ducks (AUT) will face Deurne Spartans (BEL) at 09:30 in the relegation game. Later, at 13:00, Montpellier Barracudas (FRA) will compete against Astros Valencia (ESP) for the bronze medal. The day will conclude with the gold medal game at 17:00, where Olimpija Karlovac (CRO) will play against Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz (ESP).
