The WBSC and the European Softball Coaches Association shared the facilities in the Netherlands, during the 5th ESCA Training Camp. Fourteen baseball coaches from Sweden, Poland, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Türkiye, Czech Republic, Belgium, Germany, and Romania took part in the preparation course for the WBSC Coach Licensing tests.
The Baseball coaches attending were given coaching instruction in preparation for taking their Level 1 or Level 2 instructional test, according to the WBSC international standards. The learning sessions led by Coaches Mauro Mazzotti and Marco Mazzieri were divided between classroom (theory) and field (practical) activities.
Coach Mazzieri commented on the experience: "we witnessed a very passionate group of 14 coaches that were able to attend the Level 1 & 2 Baseball Course. As I said during the course, making the time to be there when everybody nowadays is always so busy doing thousands of things speaks loudly of their love for the game, and it is very commendable."
Of the fourteen coaches taking part in the course, five received the level 1 WBSC Coach License and nine managed to obtain the level 2 WBSC Coach License.
During the course, there were a few sessions combining both the Baseball and Softball coaches from the ESCA Training Camp attending.
ESCA Coordinator Craig Montvidas said: "in the future, it is the goal of the WBSC to offer this kind of opportunity for coaches who wish to broaden their Baseball knowledge. It was great to see so many coaches from both sports in attendance. The enthusiasm displayed by everyone involved can only guarantee that future endeavors are definitely something everyone can look forward to".
