Austria got
off to a strong start scoring eleven runs in the first three innings for a
quick 11-2 lead. After Hungary managed to get within 5-11 midway through the
seventh, Austria added four more runs in the seventh and eighth combined to
close out the game.
Sammy Hackl
led the way by going 2-for-4 with five RBI. Philipp Eckel reached base five
times, scored twice and drove in two. Dominik Talir had three hits and two RBI.
Balint Piros and Ricardo Castillo drove in the five runs for Hungary.
Mo Hackl conceded five hits, two runs (1 ER) and three walks in six innings for the win. Alexander Ogg got charged with the loss.
