WBSC Europe announces the launch of the Baseball European Champions Cup, alongside the restructuring of European club competitions

WBSC Europe launches the Baseball European Champions Cup and a new structure for the baseball club competitions in Europe. The top league, the Baseball European Champions Cup, will feature four top teams from the Czech Republic and Germany, competing for the Title of European Club Champion.

Four teams will participate in the first Baseball European Champions Cup: Draci Brno and Eagles Praha from the Czech Republic, Guggenberger Legionäre, and VOITH Heidenheim Heidekoepfe from Germany.

The Baseball European Champions Cup will run from May to September, with six dates on Wednesday nights where teams will host three games each in front of their home crowd.

The league will culminate in September, with the top team in the standing hosting the runner-up for the Title of European Club Champion.

The format of the Baseball European Champions Cup marks a significant change from previous years. All games will be played at the ballparks of the participating teams, rather than being played in one venue over the course of one week.

WBSC Europe is proud to launch this league in 2024 with the support of the four participating teams, as well as the Czech Baseball Association and the German Baseball and Softball Federation.

The Baseball European Champions Cup offers top European clubs an opportunity to compete at a high international level in front of their home crowd, engaging more with fans, sponsors, and stakeholders.

The pilot for the Baseball European Champions Cup is set to launch in 2024, with ambitions for expansion and growth in the coming years.

In addition to the Baseball European Champions Cup, WBSC Europe also announced the lower divisions of the clubs' competitions. The Baseball European Cup will feature eight teams vying for a spot in the Champions Cup. The Baseball European Cup will be hosted in Valencia, Spain, for the first time.

The lower tiers of the European baseball club competitions consist of the Baseball Federation Cup. In 2024, two groups will compete, one in Switzerland and the other in Croatia.

Additionally, twelve more teams will participate in the Baseball Federation Cup Qualifiers, divided into two groups, with one group playing in Sweden and the other in Slovenia.

The schedules for the Baseball European Champions Cup and the other European Cup competitions will be revealed soon.
