Princ Zagreb and Medvednica take early lead in Central Europe Women's Softball Euroleague
The Central Europe Women's Softball Euroleague 2024 kicked off its season with a first weekend of games in Zagreb, Croatia. Despite rain affecting the schedule, four of the eight planned games were played.
Princ Zagreb (CRO) dominated their games against Apollo Bratislava (SVK), securing victories with scores of 10-0 and 10-3. Meanwhile, Medvednica (CRO) also displayed their strength on the field, winning both games against Trnava Panthers (SVK) with scores of 1-8 and 7-6.
Due to the rain on Sunday, the double headers between Princ Zagreb (CRO) & Trnava Panthers (SVK) and Apollo Bratislava (SVK) & Medvednica (CRO) had to be postponed to a later date, to be determined.
Looking ahead, the league will continue in Hungary on May 18th and 19th, followed by Slovakia hosting the next round of games on June 29th and 30th. The season will culminate in the highly anticipated finals in Croatia on October 5th and 6th, where the Euroleague champion for 2024 will be crowned.
The Softball Euroleague is a fastpitch competition for women and juniors played at a cross-border regional level. In 2024, six teams from Croatia, Hungary, and Slovakia are participating in the Central Europe Women's Softball Euroleague, highlighting the growing popularity and competitiveness of the sport in the region.
