The WBSC Europe Athletes Committee aims to provide Athletes Representatives of our Member and Affiliated Federations with a platform to connect and establish a robust network.
This network will facilitate the direct dissemination of player-relevant information, enable discussions on topics requiring player perspectives, establish working groups, and enhance the sense of belonging to WBSC Europe.
The committee's overarching goal is to elevate athletes' visibility, inspire future generations, and honor the trailblazers in the sport.
Step 1: Formation of the Athletes Committee
WBSC Europe asked National Federations to nominate Athletes Representatives (AR):
• One Athletes Representative for Baseball: a male or female baseball player representing both male and female players.
• One Athletes Representative for Softball: a male or female softball player representing Women’s & Men’s fastpitch, and Women’s, Men’s, and Coed Slowpitch.
Criteria and Principles for Athletes Representatives:
• Must be different individuals.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must have participated in a WBSC Europe competition within the last 5 years.
• Federations without recent participation in a WBSC Europe event but with a nominated Athletes Representative for this sport are encouraged to apply, ensuring inclusion for all countries.
• Should be proficient in English.
• Respectful communication is mandatory.
• Nomination must be free from political influence.
• Athletes should gather information from athletes in their country (not from their federation) and must have authorization from the Federation.
National Federations are requested to submit their nominations by May 10th.
The WBSC Europe Athletes Committee represents a significant step towards empowering athletes and fostering a stronger, more united European baseball and softball community.
