From Tuesday to Thursday a preliminary round robin will be played with the eight teams split into two groups. Pool A features France, Italy, Belgium and Germany, while Pool B has Czechia, Great Britain, Austria and the Netherlands. The first two teams of each pool advance to the semi-finals on Friday. The final is set for Saturday at 7pm CEST.
Following
the switch from U-21 to U-23 for the 2017 season three U-23 Baseball European
Championships has been played in 2017 in Austria, Czechia and Slovakia, in 2019
in Prague/Czechia and in 2021 in Verona/Italy. The Netherlands won twice
including in the last edition two years ago. Czechia prevailed in 2019. Germany
finished in second place in the last two championships. Czechia also captured a
silver medal. Belgium earned bronze twice, while Italy finished in third place
once.
Games at the U-23 Baseball European Championship are being played at the ballparks of the Diving Ducks Wiener Neustadt and the Blue Bats Schwechat. During the preliminary round games are scheduled each day at 10:00, 14:30, 16:00 and 19:30. All games can be followed live through live play by play at www.wbsceurope.org, while live streaming is offered through the WBSC Europe YouTube channel.
