U-15 Baseball European Championship opens on Tuesday in Trnava, Slovakia

On Tuesday the U-15 Baseball European Championship 2023 in Trnava, Slovakia gets underway with seven teams, looking to win the European Cadets title, while also qualifying for next year’s WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup.

In 2021 the U-15 Baseball European Championship ended with bad weather and Czechia being crowned European Champion ahead of France, Netherlands and Italy. In 2023 Czechia is heading Group A during the preliminary round, which also features Italy, Germany and Hungary. In Group B France, Netherlands and host Slovakia are battling for the top two spots for the semifinals.

From Tuesday to Thursday the preliminary round robin will be played with three games each day at 10:00, 13:30 and 17:00 at the Angels Trnava Ballpark. On Friday the semifinals will be played, the Gold Medal Game is set for Saturday at 17:00.

Historically the Netherlands are record winner in the U-15 age category with six titles, followed by Czechia and Germany with three each. Italy has won twice. The Dutch team last won the Gold Medal in 2014. In the last five editions either Germany or Czechia has won the championship.
