The inaugural Blind Baseball European Championship kicks off in Bologna, Italy

In the event marking a milestone in the discipline, the first-ever Blind Baseball European Championship commenced on October 7, 2023, in Bologna, Italy. The competition brought together five teams from across the European continent: France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, and Netherlands.

The inaugural day of the Blind Baseball European Championship 2023 unfolded at the Casteldebole ballpark, where ten games unfolded.

Results of Day One:
Game 1: France vs. Germany - 0-0
Game 2: Great Britain vs. Netherlands - 5-0
Game 3: Italy vs. France - 13-0
Game 4: Germany vs. Netherlands - 0-1
Game 5: France vs. Great Britain - 0-2
Game 6: Netherlands vs. Italy - 1-10
Game 7: Great Britain vs. Germany - 11-1
Game 8: Italy vs. Great Britain - 9-0
Game 9: Netherlands vs. France - 4-0
Game 10: Germany vs. Italy - 0-10

Italy emerged as the team to beat, securing a flawless record of 4 wins and 0 losses. Great Britain closely followed with a record of 3 wins and 1 loss. The Netherlands concluded the round-robin with an even 2-2 record. France and Germany, both with 3 losses and 1 tie, found themselves ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, with France taking the higher spot due to TQB (Tiebreaker Quotient).

The semifinals are scheduled for Sunday, October 8, 2023. France is set to face Italy, while the Netherlands will lock horns with Great Britain.

The losers of the semifinal matchups will battle for the bronze medal, while the winners will advance to the gold medal game.

The championship is poised to crown the first-ever Blind Baseball European Champions, making history.
