Jorge Balboa elected as Baseball Male Athlete Representative in WBSC Europe Executive Board

Spanish pitcher Jorge Balboa is the newest member of the WBSC Europe Executive Board.

Balboa, known for his career primarily in Spain, also played on the international stage in Italy in 2009, participating in the Italian Baseball League, and in Japan in 2014, competing in the Shikoku Island League. His journey in baseball includes eight Baseball European Championships, two World Cups, and two Olympic Qualifiers.

"I am truly excited and honored by this opportunity. Representing baseball players in Europe is a significant commitment, and I am ready to take on that challenge with enthusiasm and dedication," said Balboa.

Balboa also added "I believe that my experience as a player and my knowledge of different club structures worldwide will allow me to advocate for players' interests effectively. I want to work on the development of European baseball, promoting the growth of our sport and providing support to players at every stage of their careers."

WBSC Europe President Kruno Karin and WBSC Europe Baseball Vice President Petr Ditrich congratulated Balboa during the Baseball European Championship 2023 in the Czech Republic, where Balboa played for Spain and won the gold medal game.

"To all the players reading this, I want to say that I am here for you." Balboa stated, "My goal is to work tirelessly to improve our conditions and opportunities in European baseball. Together, we can grow our sport and achieve new milestones. Let's keep working hard and enjoying baseball!"
