Schedule announced for the 2022 Slowpitch European Championships

Two Slowpitch European Championships will take place in 2022: the Men’s Slowpitch European Championship and the Coed Slowpitch European Championship.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation Europe (WBSC Europe) announced the official schedule of the Men’s Slowpitch European Championship and the Coed Slowpitch European Championship.

The Men’s Slowpitch European Championship will kick off the European softball 2022 season. The event is set to take place in Colorno, Italy, from June 14 to 18, 2022. Six teams will play to crown the first 2022 European Softball Champion.

The tournament is programmed to start on Tuesday, June 14, when Great Britain, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, and Ireland will take the field in Colorno, in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna.

Twenty-seven games are scheduled over five days. The Championship Game will occur on Saturday, June 18, at 17:00, when the 2022 Men’s Slowpitch European Champions will be crowned on Colorno field.

Great Britain holds the title, won in 2018 at the inaugural Men’s Slowpitch European Championship in Choceň, Czech Republic.

One month later, the eighth Coed Slowpitch European Championship will be hosted in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The Championship is set to start on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. The 2022 Coed Slowpitch European Championship is the qualifier for the first-ever WBSC Coed Slowpitch World Cup.

Nine European National Teams will battle for the title of European Champion over five days. Forty-one games are scheduled to be played over two fields in Ljubljana, the Slovenian capital and largest city.

The medal round is set for Saturday, July 16, with the bronze medal game scheduled at 14:00 and the gold medal final at 17:00.

The British won the last Coed Slowpitch European Championship in Budapest, Hungary, in 2019, topping Germany in the championship game, 13-3.

Great Britain is ranked first in the Slowpitch European Ranking 2021 with 2050 points. Germany follows in the second position with 1900 points, and Czech Republic is third with 1300 points.
