Women’s European Baseball Championship starts in Montpellier on Wednesday

For the second time in the history of European Baseball a Women’s European Baseball Championship will be played from Wednesday, August 3 to Saturday, August 6. Montpellier in France will host the second edition, which also will serve as qualifying event for the next WBC Women’s Baseball World Cup. Four teams will participate with host and defending champion France, the Netherlands, Czech Republic and Great Britain.

Greg Hamilton Park in Montpellier will host the Women’s European Baseball Championship. During the preliminary phase two games will be played each day at 12pm and 5pm. The top two teams then will compete in the final at 1pm on Saturday.

It is going to be the second edition of a Women’s European Baseball Championship. After three teams in 2019 now four teams will compete. In the debut edition in 2019 in Rouen, France the French team upset heavy favorite Netherlands with a 5-2 victory in the final to claim the first Women’s European Baseball title. The Dutch have been a constant in Women’s Baseball, having competed in various Women’s Baseball World Cup throughout the years.

Games from Montpellier will be live streamed. Live play by play and links to live streaming will be available through www.wbsceurope.org.
