WBSC Europe stands in solidarity with Ukraine

The World Baseball Softball Confederation Europe (WBSC Europe) stands in solidarity with Ukraine, the Ukrainian people and the baseball/softball family in Ukraine in the face of the unprovoked and illegal invasion of Ukrainian territory by Russia.

Following recommendations from the International Olympic Committee (link), WBSC Europe will relocate all competitions it had planned to hold in Russia during the 2022 season.  No WBSC Europe competitions had been scheduled to be hosted in Belarus.

The WBSC Europe Board will be considering as soon as possible to impose full sanctions against all Russian and Belarus national teams such as exclusion from European Baseball or Softball Championships at all age levels and in all disciplines during the 2022 season, and Russian and Belarus club teams’ exclusion from all baseball and softball European Cup competitions this year.

Should Ukrainian baseball and/or softball national or club teams be able to take part in any European competitions in 2022, WBSC Europe will provide financial relief by way of removing all entry fees and will request from the European Organizers of competitions to provide assistance to these teams with regard to accommodation and food at tournaments.

The Board would also recommend to all National Federations to lend out a hand to the Ukraine youth leagues /players and assist in providing a safe environment in their respective countries by allowing them to play freely and out of danger.
