WBSC Europe launches events' sanctioning process for national teams

WBSC Europe has introduced a sanctioning process for any international competition in Europe involving one or more National Teams governed by the National Federation. This process was previously under the the jurisdiction of WBSC.

The events requiring sanctioning are those featuring any of the following games:
- National Team vs. National Team
or
- National Team vs. Club.

The National Federation of the country in which the event takes place is responsible for submitting a Sanction Request form to sanctioning@wbsceurope.org and cc sanctioning@wbsc.org a minimum of 6 weeks prior to the event date.

The new process is designed to ensure that all international competitions in Europe meet the standards set by WBSC and WBSC Europe, which will help to ensure a level playing field for all teams involved.

Additionally, it allows National Federations to generate additional World Rankings points by having their National Teams compete in WBSC & WBSC Europe "sanctioned" events.
To receive Ranking points, the event must be included in the categories covered by the Ranking Methodology.

The application must be submitted before the start of the proposed event, and a report must be completed and submitted to WBSC Europe & WBSC within 72 hours after the final game of sanctioned games.

This new sanctioning process by WBSC Europe is a step forward in the development of baseball and softball in Europe, as well as providing an opportunity for National Federations to gain additional World Rankings points.

For more information on this new process or any questions, please contact WBSC Europe at sanctioning@wbsceurope.org.

The sanctioning process follows the WBSC new regulations, where sanctioning of Continental games and events has been transferred from the International Confederation to the Continental Confederations.

Sanction of games or events played by national teams of different continents remain under the jurisdiction of the WBSC, and shall be addressed to sanctioning@wbsc.org
