The Kingdom of the Netherlands wins the 2022 Women's Softball European Championship
The Dutch National Team won the final of the 2022 Women's Softball European Championship defeating Great Britain, 7-0.
After two scoreless innings, the Kingdom of the Netherlands scored three runs: the third inning got opened by a Damishah CHARLES' single, Britt VONK walked, and the bases got loaded with VAN AALST's bunt. With two outs, OOSTING hit a 2-RBI single in the middle.
At the top of the fourth, WISSINK opened the inning with a hit and got to second thanks to a sacrifice bunt by JANSEN. A double down the left field line by CHARLES brought in another run for the Netherlands to make it 4-0. A fifth run was scored by Cindy VAN DER ZANDEN, pushed home by Dinet OOSTING's single.
In the fifth, the British had the occasion to score. Lauren EVANS, hit-by-pitch, got pushed to second base by the only hit of the game by GB: Georgina CORRICK singled to the pitcher. Dutch pitcher Eva VOORTMAN kept the control of the game, with zero out, she struck Rebecca FAULKNER, had Amy MOORE hit a fly, and had Aubrey PETERSON strike out to close the inning.
Two hits by VONK and BEERS and a triple by VAN AALST on the right field line allowed the Kingdom of the Netherlands to score two more runs in the seventh to take the score to 7-0, and crown the 2022 European Champions.
