The ESF Extraordinary Congress took place in Rome, Italy, on November 20, 2021.

The Congress was opened by ESF President Gabriel Waage, welcoming the European softball leaders. Mr. Waage gave an overview of the work carried out in the past five years with the ESF Board and Officials, and thanked the European Softball Community:

"I would like to thank everyone, – Players, Coaches, Umpires, Managers, Parents, Fans, Photographers, Journalists, Scorers, Sponsors, Groundskeepers, and Volunteers – for your contribution to Softball Europe.".

An overview of the five-year period just elapsed can be found in the Retrospective Document 2017-2021.

As per tradition, USA Softball Executive Director and WBSC 2nd Vice Chairman Craig Cress also took part in the ESF Congress, renovating the support and esteem for the European Softball Community.

Wrapping up the Congress, the ESF Competitions and Technical Director Mike Jennings, illustrated the competitions planning 2022-2024. The Men's Slowpitch European Championship will open the 2022 season, on June 14. Championships and Cups will be played throughout the summer, until October 29, with the European Masters Cups.

Three Softball events are still waiting for a host: the Coed Slowpitch European Championship, the Women's Softball European Cup and the Women’s European Cup Winners Cup “B”. The bids for these events will be open until December 31, 2021 (form to place a bid).

Following the decision at the Extraordinary Congress in Rome, both the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) and the European Softball Federation (ESF) will be dissolved at the next WBSC Europe Congress, due to take place in Slovenia in February.
