Rattvik wins Federation Cup Qualifier in Kutno

The Rattvik Baseball and Softball Club has won the Men’s Baseball Federation Cup Qualifier in Kutno, Poland thanks to a 13-3 victory over Beisbolas Klubas Vilnius in the final on Saturday. The Swedish Club already went undefeated 3-0 in the preliminary round and then beat the Tampere Tigers 20-0 in the semi-finals on Friday. Vilnius reached the final thanks to an 8-5 win over MKS Stal Kutno. With the win Rattvik earned a Swedish spot in next year’s Federation Cup.

In the final Rattvik scored four runs in the third to take a 5-2 lead. They continued to reach the scoreboard in the following frames and sealed the win after eight with a five-run rally. Joel Johnson, Benjamin Johnson and Oskar Jerfsten hit home runs. Benjamin Johnson led the way with five RBI and earned the win in relief with six strikeouts in 4 1/3 strong innings. Maksim Burdin took the loss.

Nine games were played in total at the first of three Federation Cup Qualifier, which was played from Monday to Saturday at Little League’s European Center in Kutno, Poland. Rattvik went 3-0 in the first round with host MKS Stal Kutno trailing 2-1. But in the semi-final the number three seed Vilnius overcame the number two Kutno.
