Taichung. 2011 IBAF Baseball World Cup winner Netherlands had a perfect start into the 2013 World Baseball Classic. They defeated Korea 5-0 behind a strong pitching performance in the evening game of day one of Pool B at Intercontinental Stadium in Taichung.

Jakub Izold from Slovakia signs with Cincinnati Reds
Reportedly the first player from Slovakia, 19-year-old left-handed pitcher Jakub Izold has signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds organization. He is living and playing for the Czech Extraleague club Draci Brno since he is 16 years old. He attended MLB tryouts and the MLB European Academy in Tirrenia twice. The Reds first offered him a contract last December and signed in his home country Slovakia during the holidays.

Final Rosters for 2013 World Baseball Classic
World Baseball Classic, Inc. announced the final rosters submitted before the February 20th deadline by the 16 Baseball Federations participating in the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Final rosters include up to 28 players. Provisional rosters were announced on January 17th.
