European Teams deliver Upsets at 2013 World Baseball Classic
Tokyo/Phoenix/San Juan. Five games were on the schedule on Friday. The day started at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan, where the second round of the 2013 World Baseball Classic got underway. The Netherlands continued its strong run, downing Cuba behind the heroics of Jonathan Schoop. Afterwards Japan needed to come back twice to win in extra innings against Chinese Taipei.
First Round underway in Phoenix and San Juan

Italy shocked Mexico with a late rally to deliver the first big surprise of the tournament. In the second matchup on Thursday the Dominican Republic slugged their way past Venezuela.

WBC First Round in San Juan and Phoenix gets started
Fukuoka/San Juan/Phoenix. Cuba defeated Japan on Wednesday to conclude the first round Pool A in Fukuoka as the number-one seed. Both teams will advance to the second round joined by Chinese Taipei and the Netherlands from Pool B. Games at the Tokyo Dome start on Friday.

Chinese Tapei and IBAF 2011 Baseball World Cup winner the Netherlands are joining Cuba and Japan in the second round of the 2013 World Baseball Classic at the Tokyo Dome (March 8 to 12) in Tokyo, Japan. The Dutch team beat Australia in the afternoon game at Intercontinental Stadium in Taichung on Tuesday to finish the first round in second place. Chinese Taipei lost to Korea, but still was ranked first in Pool B due to the tiebreaker. In Pool A China celebrated a late comeback to get its first win in the tournament.

Fukuoka/Taichung. Day two of the first round in Pool A and B at the 2013 World Baseball Classic is in the books. Pool A at the Yahoo! Dome in Fukuoka saw no surprise on Sunday, as Cuba entered the tournament with a win over Brazil and Japan downed China for its second victory. At Intercontinental Stadium in Taichung, Chinese Taipei won the battle of undefeated teams in Pool B against the Netherlands to earn their second win.
