National Championships: Panthers Wittenbach are the 2022 Women's Softball Swiss National Champions
The Panthers Wittenbach won the Swiss National Championship over the weekend after topping the Zürich Challengers in the best-of-five series.
The Panthers Wittenbach defeated the Zürich Challengers in three games to win the 2022 Swiss National Championship.
On the first weekend of games, the Panthers topped the opponents twice: first in game one, 0-6, and later in the second game of the series by 16-6.
With two games won, the Panthers had a solid lead heading to game three of the best-of-five series. In game three, the Panthers took the lead scoring three runs, but the Challengers kept fighting and scored twice to make it 3-2. Three more runs were scored by the Panthers in the third inning and one in the fourth to consolidate the lead. In the last opportunity for them, the Challengers tried to come back and scored three runs taking it to 5-7, not enough to tie the game.
Gold medallist Panthers Wittenbach and silver medallist Zürich Challengers both qualified for the 2023 European Cups.
