Hakusah Globetrotters win Prague Baseball Week 2022

The Prague Baseball Week ended on Saturday evening with the Hakusah Globetrotters winning the title at the traditional international baseball tournament with a 6-1 win over the Spanish National Team.

What was supposed to be a thrilling final day turned out to be a waiting game, as rain played hiccup at the ballparks in Prague, Czech Republic. Only the final was played with the remaining games including the semi-finals being cancelled due to the bad weather. The final then was reduced to seven innings and didn’t start until 9pm.

From Wednesday to Friday the eight participating teams were locked into a close preliminary round robin. In Group A Spain remained undefeated in three games ahead of the Czech Senior National Team, Greece and Old World Baseball. In Group B the Globetrotters won all three games, while the Czech prospects came in second ahead of The North Baseball and Utenosi Titana from Lithuania.

The final started with a pitcher duel with three scoreless frames. In the fourth the Globetrotters broke the tie with a pair of runs and broke it wide open with four scores in the fifth. Spain didn’t score until the seventh inning, when they tried to rally for the comeback. But a strikeout with the bases loaded eventually secured the win for the Globetrotters.
