Germany wins Exhibition Series against Czechia this past weekend

Germany won two of three games of the exhibition series against Czechia, which was played this past weekend in the Czech cities of Trebic and Prague. On Friday evening Czechia prevailed 8-6, while on Saturday and Sunday Germany came out as winner 5-2 and 7-5 in the WBSC Europe sanctioned event.

Czechia – Germany 8-6 (Box score)

On Friday evening in Trebic, host city of the U-23 Basebal European Championship 2025, Czechia held off a late rally by Germany to win 8-6. After building a 7-0 lead at the Trebic Nuclears ballpark after seven innings, Germany countered with six combined runs in the eighth and ninth to make it a two-run game before Czechia prevailed. Michal Sindelka went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Eight different players scored for Czechia. Ryan Johnson picked up the win with two innings of scoreless relief. Lou Helmig and Alexander Schmidt collected two RBI apiece for Germany. Nadir Ljatifi scored twice. Mark Harrison got charged with the loss.

Germany – Czechia 5-2 (Box score)

On Saturday evening Germany evened the series with a 5-2 win over Czechia at the Eagles Praha ballpark. Czechia struck first with a RBI double by Marek Krejclrik for a 1-0 lead in the second. Lou Helmig then first tied the game with a solo home run in the fourth and then scored the go-ahead run in the sixth on a RBI single by Luca Rammelmann. Krejclrik evened the score for Czechia with a sac fly in the seventh. But Germany scored three runs on RBI singles by Elias von Garßen, Danny Lankhorst and Eric Brenk in the eighth to seal the win. Florian Kawczynski earned the win in relief. Lukas Ercoli got charged with the loss.

Czechia – Germany 5-7 (Box score)

After the late rally wasn’t successful on Friday, Germany celebrated a 7-5 comeback victory on Sunday afternoon over Czechia. In Prague, at the Tempo Praha facility, Germany scored three runs in the eighth and ninth inning to turn a 4-5 deficit into the victory. Eric Brenk tied the game with a RBI single in the eighth. Maurice Bendrien then scored on an error to put Germany ahead. In the ninth Simon Bäumer hit a solo home run to seal the win. It was the second home run of the night for Bäumer, who also connected for a two-run shot in the third. Finn Bergmann also went deep for Germany. Matous Bubenik homered twice for Czechia, while Martin Muzik hit a solo home run. Christoph Ehrich earned the win in relief, while Stepan Dupal took the loss.
