Day 7 of the U-18 European Baseball Championship: Preview

Final day at the U-18 European Baseball Championship in the Czech Republic on Saturday. The grand finale between the Netherlands and Spain will take place in the evening at 6pm at MBS Stadium in Brno. Earlier in the day the classification games are on the schedule as well.

The Netherlands and Spain already met during the preliminary round. Spain won that game 4-3 in extra innings in an exciting thriller on Tuesday evening. Spain enters the final with an unbeaten 6-0 record in the tournament. On Friday afternoon they beat Italy 3-2 thanks to a comeback in the bottom of the seventh on their way to the final. The Dutch team, which had reached the semi-finals as second seed from Group A, is the defending champion. They eliminated host Czechia on Friday evening thanks to a seven-run first inning in an 8-2 win.

The Czech Republic has to settle for the bronze medal match on Saturday against Italy. The game is scheduled for 2pm.

The day already starts at 10am with the game for fifth place between Germany and France. At 4pm Great Britain and Israel will play for seventh place, Belgium and Austria at 12pm for ninth place and Ireland and Lithuania at 1pm for eleventh place.

Starting times on Saturday can vary due to the rainy weather forecast for the south of the Czech Republic.
