It is only the second time in the history of baseball and softball besides the Mannheim Tornados in 1997 that a club wins the league title in baseball and softball in the same year.
Bonn and Wesseling went toe to toe during the regular season, finishing with the same record on top of the standings with the Capitals edging the Vermins by winning the season series by a couple of runs. Bonn beat the Freising Grizzlies in the semifinals to reach the final series, while Wesseling came through against the Guggenberger Legionaere Regensburg.
The German Softball-Bundesliga is split into two groups in the north and the south. After a double round robin regular season the teams meet in the semifinals and finals to determine the German Softball Champion.
In August, the Bonn Capitals won the bronze medal at the Women's Softball Cup Winners Cup A in Viladecans, Spain.
