The third game day of the Baseball European Champions Cup marks the halfway point of the 2024 season. It will feature the return matchups of last week’s action, as Draci Brno prevailed in extra innings over the VOITH Heidenheim Heidekoepfe 5-4. The Guggenberger Legionaere rallied late to beat Eagles Praha 2-1.
Draci is leading the BECC standings with a 2-0 record ahead of Heidenheim and Regensburg, which are 1-1. The Eagles still look for their premiere victory at 0-2.
In their domestic competitions the Guggenberger Legionaere celebrated a two-win weekend, while the other three teams weren’t that successful. Regensburg downed the Hunstetten Storm in the German Baseball-Bundesliga 12-0 and 16-1. The VOITH Heidekoepfe had to settle for the split on the road against the Mainz Athletics (10-2, 3-4).
Brno lost twice to Arrows Ostrava (1-2, 2-4) in the Czech Extraliga, while Praha split a two-game set against Cardion Hrosi Brno (1-7, 11-2).
Following
this week’s matchup the Baseball European Champions Cup will be on a break
until July 17, when game day number four is on the schedule.
