History
The history of baseball in Romania begins in 1990, when, due to the long experience of practicing "oina" - romanian national sport - favorable premises were created for the introduction of baseball.
An initiative group, made up of, among others, the former general secretary of the Romanian Oina Federation, Cristian Costescu, and some of the instructors, referees and oina players, baseball fans, from Botoşani, Suceava, Neamţ, Bucharest, Călăraşi and Teleorman, did this.
In this way, the date of February 4, 1990 consecrates the moment of the establishment of the Romanian Baseball Federation.
In 1993, Softball joined the newly established federation, and the name became complete, the Romanian Baseball and Softball Federation.
The first baseball championship was organized in 1991 and the first softball championship was held in 1993.
At the international level, the first medal for Romanian baseball came at the European Championship in 1995, in Prague, where the romanian junior representative won the title of European vice-champion, ranking after the Italian team.
In 1999, the U15 National Team won the bronze medal at the European Championships in the Czech Republic.
The leadership of the Romanian Baseball and Softball Federation was provided by the presidents Aurică Stoian (1990-1997), Marian Ciocârlan (1997-2001), Vasile Molan (2001-2009), Valer Toma (2009-2012), Andrei Mirescu ( 2012 - 2022), Cristian Manea (2022 - present).
