In the gold medal game, Olympia Haarlem (NED) claimed their third consecutive Premier Cup title with a 6-2 victory over Italposa Forlì (ITA).
The match started with Forlì taking a narrow lead, scoring one run in the second inning with a single by Carlotta Onofri. In the fifth inning, Forlì doubled their lead: Moreland hit a triple, and Vigna brought her home.
Olympia Haarlem closed the gap thanks to a single by Cindy Van der Zanden, who advanced to third on a defensive error and was able to run home on the subsequent ground ball by Van Aalst.
The game took a decisive turn in the sixth inning when Olympia scored five runs, capitalizing on a series of hits and defensive errors. The sixth inning began with a walk for Britt Vonk, the first of seven consecutive batters to reach base. The Dutch team, through singles, walks, and errors, managed to score five runs, turning the game around and setting the final score at 6-2.
With this win, Olympia Haarlem once again demonstrated their dominance in European women’s softball, securing the Premier Cup title for the third year in a row.
Earlier in the day, the bronze medal game saw Wesseling Vermins (GER) secure a narrow 2-1 victory over Rivas Madrid (ESP) to claim the bronze medal. The game remained scoreless until the fifth inning when Torre scored one run for Rivas Madrid on a single by Caicoya. Wesseling Vermins responded by scoring two runs thanks to three consecutive hits by Witt, Szalay, and Weil. Held was the winning pitcher, allowing only three hits.
In the final standings of the Women’s Softball European Premier Cup 2024, Olympia Haarlem (NED) claimed the top spot, winning the title of European Club Champion for the third time in a row. Softball Forlì (ITA) finished in second place, followed by Wesseling Vermins (GER) in third. Rivas Madrid (ESP) secured fourth place, with SC Neptunus (NED) in fifth and Joudrs Praha (CZE) in sixth. The Mix (GBR) ended in seventh position, Vienna Metrostars (AUT) came in eighth, Beveren Lions (BEL) took ninth, and Wittenbach Panthers (SUI) finished in tenth place.
