Czech Republic won the first-ever U-23 Men’s European Championship. The Czech and the Israeli squads qualified for the WBSC U-23 Men’s Softball World Cup.

Championship Game

The Czechs won the U-23 Men’s Softball European Championship in Sezimovo Ústí, Czech Republic. The home team dominated the Gold Medal game scoring 16 runs in three innings.

In the first inning, the Czechs scored 13 innings, thanks to 7 walks and 6 hits, including three home runs by HARRIS, LUŇÁK, and HLAVÁČ.

The Czech starting pitcher BUCHNER stroke-out six of the seven hitters he faced. In the third inning, after a pitching change, the Daish managed to get on the board, scoring one run thanks to ANDERSEN Nicholai’s single in the right field pushing ELSNER home.

In the bottom of the third, with runners on first and second, BUCHNER Adam sent one over the fence to end the game, 16-1.

The Czechs won the first U-23 Men’s Softball European Championship and qualified for the 2022 WBSC World Cup of the same age category.

Bronze Medal Game

In the bronze medal game, Israel topped Great Britain, 8-0, to claim the bronze medal.

Israel started strong in the first inning scoring seven of the eight total runs. The eighth run was scored on a home run by ROSS Seth Benjamin.

Czech Republic and Israel qualified for the 2022 WBSC U-23 Men’s Softball World Cup, as Denmark waived the qualification for technical reasons. The World Cup will be held in Argentina Starting October 22, 2022.
