France wins Women’s European Baseball Championship 2022 in Montpellier

France has defended its title at the Women’s European Baseball Championship 2022, which was held in Montpellier, France. They defeated the Czech Republic 13-3 in a one-sided final on Saturday afternoon. The Netherlands finished in third place in the final standings ahead of Great Britain in fourth, which had played its first international competition in Women’s Baseball.

France started into the title game (Box score) with a three-run first. After Czechia cut the deficit to a run in the second inning, the French team put seven runs on the board in the third to decide the outcome. While the Czech squad added a run in the fourth, France sealed the victory with three more runs in the fifth.

Five players by France, Emma Patry, Ambre Brouard, Marjorie Brunel, Yasmine Derbal and Coralie Guillemin, each scored twice. Derbal, Leonie Pauthe and Juliane Laporte collected two RBI apiece. Cassandra Vigneau allowed six hits, three runs and three walks in five innings for a complete game win. Katerina Popelkova, Petra Kolkusova and Eva Ventrubova scored the three runs for Czechia.
