Draci Brno – L&D Amsterdam 0-9 (Box score)
After losing the opening game against Heidenheim, L&D Amsterdam picked up their first win at the European Champions Cup with a 9-0 shutout over Draci Brno. After a scoreless first inning, the Pirates scored nine unanswered runs between the second and fourth frame to decide the outcome. The game had to be called after five innings due to rain, but will go into the standings as regular game. Rachid Engelhardt, Delano Selassa and Kalian Sams scored two runs apiece. Rashid Gerard had two hits and three RBI. Scott Prins and Mike Groen combined to hurl five scoreless two-hit innings. Filip Capka got charged with the loss, issuing five hits, six runs (4 ER) and two base on balls in 2 1/3 innings. Arnost Dubovy and Milan Prokop had the two hits for Draci.
Arrows Ostrava – ASD San Marino 0:4 (Box score)
The second game of the day got seven innings in before the game led to an early ending with ASD San Marino winning 4-0 over Arrows Ostrava. Carlos Quevedo struck out six in six no-hit innings, issuing only a hit by pitch during his outing. Luca Di Raffaele gave up a hit to Jakub Malik, but still managed to close out the win. Oscar Angulo hit a solo home run and scored twice for San Marino. Jesus Ustariz had two hits and two RBI. Marko Vykoukal conceded eight hits and four runs in six innings.
Bonn Capitals – Arrows Ostrava 6-3 (Box score)
In a lengthy game, which lasted over six hours with plenty of rain delays and already was postponed from Tuesday to Wednesday, the Bonn Capitals captured a dramatic 6-3 walk-off win over Arrows Ostrava. A grand slam with no outs by Vincent Ahrens in the bottom of the ninth lifted the Champions Cup host to the victory, their first in as many games. Ostrava had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the frame, taking advantage of a wild Dovydas Neverauskas, who issued a run on two walks and three wild pitches, while striking out the side. Both teams had scored once in the first and then exchanged runs in the seventh and eighth innings.
Remaining games suspended and postponed
Two more games were on the schedule for Wednesday in Bonn. ASD Parma was leading the VOITH Heidenheim Heidekoepfe 2-0 in the third inning, when rain caused first a delay and then the suspension of the contest. The planned evening game between Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam and the Bonn Capitals was postponed all together due to the lengthy contest between Bonn and Ostrava.
Another new schedule for day three
For a second straight day the schedule for the European Champions Cup had to be adjusted. Six instead of four games will be on tap on Thursday. It is going to be an early morning, as Draci Brno will take on the VOITH Heidenheim Heidekoepfe at 9.30am. Heidenheim then will resume its game against ASD Parma at 1pm. In between Arrows Ostrava faces Curacao Neptunus at 12pm. Neptunus will then host the Bonn Capitals at 4pm. Also at 4pm L&D Amsterdam takes on ASD Parma. In the evening at 8pm Bonn will play against ASD San Marino.
