Host Rouen Huskies wins Confederation Cup 2022 with Walk-Off Win in Final

The Rouen Huskies defeated the Hoboken Pioneers 6-5 in the final game of the Men’s Baseball Confederation Cup in Rouen, France. Playing at their own turf the Huskies won the game on Sunday in walk-off style, as the decisive run was pushed over home plate in the bottom of the ninth inning thanks to a bases loaded walk.

With the victory Rouen secured a spot in the European Champions Cup for France for next year. For the Huskies it is their second win in that category, as they won the CEB Cup in 2016. The CEB Cup was renamed into Confederation Cup starting with the 2022 season.

Seven teams played in the Confederation Cup 2022. In the preliminary phase Rouen and the Tenerife Marlins won their round robin groups undefeated with 2-0 respective 3-0 records to earn a berth in the semi-finals. In the semi-finals Hoboken stunned Tenerife with a 4-2 win to reach the final. Rouen prevailed 7-6 in a thrilling all-France duel against the Montpellier Barracudas.

Tenerife claimed third place with a 10-2 victory on Sunday over Montpellier. Olimpija Karlovac, the Vienna Metrostars and the Therwil Flyers finished in fifth, sixth and seventh following the relegation round.

Bastien Dagneau of the Rouen Huskies was named MVP of the Confederation Cup, Brayden Bebee from the Hoboken Pioneers as Best Pitcher and Noah Senn of the Therwil Flyers as Leading Batter.
